Day 20 - Ouch! LOL

Barbara on December 4th, 2007

Whaaaaa - I’m sore LOL. What a workout! My legs were so fatigued I had trouble getting down the stairs at the gym. I gave it my all - which probably wasn’t the smartest thing to do considering I haven’t done much leg training over the last few weeks but oh well, the damage is done now. At the end of my program I am supposed to do a 10 minute walk on the treadmill and I thought - nah, I’ll jog it instead. That lasted about 10 seconds LOL before I put it back down to 7km/hr and walked. My legs were just really heavy. I must admit though, I am not as sore as I expected to be and I still managed to go back to do a run later. I only ran 3km though and walked another 3km. Overall, it was a good day - am still wondering what these Sumo Squats are going to be like tomorrow. ………

Day 19 - Last chance

Barbara on December 2nd, 2007

Today was my last chance to really put some effort into my weights program before the big assessment tomorrow. I think I did well and got through all my sets. I went red on a few, grunted on a few more and gritted my teeth on the rest. I’m not sure what my new programs are going to be like so I wanted to enjoy the last of my upper body program - which I did :) Did my usual 5km run later in the day - so I’m all prepared now. Can’t wait to see the outcome tomorrow. My fingers and toes are all crossed LOL

Day 15 - Great, I have an audience

Barbara on November 27th, 2007

Well day 15 was a good day - I did a hard weights session at the gym in the morning and an even harder cardio session later that night. I really wanted to push myself to see just how fast and far I could run in 30 minutes. I ran my 5km in just under 27 minutes which is awesome. The only downside to it was I had an audience of a few young guys. I caught them watching when I checked over my shoulder to see where my sister was at and then they decided that the treadmill beside me was a good place to hang out. I suppose I should be flattered but it was really off-putting. They got over their fascination after about 10 minutes and left me to it. Lets hope I can get through it tomorrow night by myself LOL.

Day 14 - Run, run, as fast as you can

Barbara on November 25th, 2007

Well I trained hard today - really hard. I could feel myself shake and literally had no strength left at the end of my reps. My trainer wasn’t there to see how hard I trained though but he would have been happy with what I did. I went back later for my cardio session and I ran really fast. Amazingly though, it was a comfortable run, if you know what I mean. I think I have found my tempo LOL. I made sure I downloaded a heap of good rock songs on my shuffle and just got on with what I had to do. I didn’t even get a chance to peep at the time - before I knew it, the treadmill had started to slow up for my cool-down. I’m sure I could have ran longer - but I didn’t (give me a chance - can’t do too much yet). I am getting hooked again though - I can just feel it LOL

Day 13 - A little flat

Barbara on November 23rd, 2007

I was a little flat today - I still did my program but rested a little longer in between sets. My trainer even asked me if I was in holiday mode LOL. He kept looking over to see what I was doing and pulled me up a few times on how I was training. I still get a bit embarrassed when I know someone is watching me train. You know what it’s like - you don’t want to do anything wrong or pull a stupid face so you try to be all cool calm and collected but it still backfires on you (well it did for me LOL). Anyway, I went back later for my run and he asked if I was going to put a bit more effort into it. Well of course I did - I ran faster and worked really hard. I felt great for it too - in fact, it felt that good, I am going to run faster again tomorrow night. Looking forward to it :)

Day 12 - Back to Front

Barbara on November 22nd, 2007

After Sunday’s cycle class the first thing I did was check the programs on the wall to see when Colin (the Sunday cycle instructor) was on again. And you wouldn’t believe my luck! You guessed it, he does a cycle class every Wednesday night. Trouble is, I usually do the cycle class in the morning so I can run at night. Today I turned it all around, I went to the gym in the morning and ran 6kms and then went back at 7pm for the fun cycle class. It was a blast LOL. I really enjoyed it again and wished it went longer. I just get a real buzz out of it. It was so hot though - they are currently doing a few renovations around the gym and none of the fans worked. Thank god everyone was wearing deodorant as you can imagine how hot and sweaty it was in there - the windows actually fogged up LOL - it was almost like being in a sauna. It was well worth it though. I’m going to miss Sunday’s class this week which will be very sad :(

Day 11 - Rest more then work harder

Barbara on November 21st, 2007

My workout was good today, hard but good. I had to wait a few times for some of the machines but that was okay because I got to have a bit of a rest. Although, I decided that if I have a bigger rest, then I can do a harder workout. It was all worth it and I was pretty exhausted when I was finished but I felt good. :) I went back to do my a run a bit later than usual and the gym was packed. Remind me never to go at that time again. I had to wait nearly 15 minutes for a treadmill – so as soon as there was one free I hogged it all to myself for the next 35 minutes – oink oink LOL. My runs seem to be getting a little easier too so I might increase the speed and see how I go :)

Day 10 - Hot & Sweaty

Barbara on November 20th, 2007

Geez, it was hot today at Gym - worked up a real sweat LOL. Was looking forward to getting in there and doing my program (even though I was a bit sore from yesterday’s cycle class). Got through it fairly quickly though and again managed to increase a few weights. I think I would have looked a bit funny though as I had the shakes a bit LOL. Went back later to do my 5km run. Wasn’t sure if I’d get through it but surprised myself and actually ran 6km. It’s okay, I can pretend I can hear you all clapping LOL - thank you, thank you. I had a small problem with the guy on the treadmill next to me though - he had no deodorant. All I can say is it’s lucky I breathe through my mouth otherwise it wouldn’t have been pretty seeing what I ate for dinner. I know it was a hot & sweaty day, but it doesn’t take much to spray/roll some on. So, not only do I need my towel and blinkers, I’ll need nose plugs next LMAO. Lets hope Day 11 can bring a more refreshing day :)

Day 7 - One whole week!

Barbara on November 16th, 2007

Can you believe it’s been a week already? Gee times flies when you have fun doesn’t it LOL. My weights session was good today. I didn’t bang my head on anything or grunt or do anything silly or embarrassing – well, not until I was in the car park and tripped over something. I still don’t know what it was because when I turned around, nothing was there. Don’t you hate it though when you really hope that no-one saw you BUT THEY DID? Well, when I went back to gym to do my run (by myself :() I got asked if I had a nice trip? It took me about 10 minutes to finally work out what they were talking about LOL. And anyway - what were they doing watching me walk away from the gym in the first place?

Day 1 - Let the games begin

Barbara on November 8th, 2007

Yes, I know it has been a few days since my last post but we have been on holiday LOL. Yesterday was cycle class and cardio day. I’ve never done a proper cycle class, and let me tell you, it was FUN!! I did a bit of cycle work when I was attending a fitness boot-camp earlier in the year but never to loud dance music and with moves you’d never do out in the street LOL. Probably the best part of it was doing what they call “jumps”. Seriously a lot of fun - so for those who haven’t tried it, give it a go – you will be surprised. My cardio was a 4km run later in the day. My sister has joined the gym as well and can only go at night so I went back with her and did my “afternoon” cardio then. Overall, it was a good day and a great start to my new program. Have got the first program of my upper body weight session to get through next . . . . . I am looking forward to that.
