Flickr Friday - Cake

Barbara on June 27th, 2008

I almost missed it (okay, it’s a day late but I backdated it and I have a good excuse! LOL).

It’s Flickr Friday time again :) This week it is all about Cakes!  I’m not a cake eater myself so decided to find some funky and colourful cakes for my mosaic.  If you want to join in and do one, just go to Lazycowdesign and add your mosaic link to Mr Linky :)

Kids stuff

Barbara on June 22nd, 2008

I love doing kids stuff. Things like colouring in, drawing, running around like a lunatic with the dogs (hey, I’m allowed :P) etc. Hubby and I were watching a program on Foxtel the other day - just one of those housey types - when I saw a clip of a lady on a swing INSIDE the house! Well, I immediately swung my head around and looked and hubby and he didn’t even move - he just said “No”, shook his head and laughed :( OMG, seriously, how cool would it be to have a swing in the house LMAO.

Anyway, I was sitting here last night just thinking about it, I tend to think about things for a long time LOL, and I told him last night that it was fine, I don’t need one inside but as soon as we build the pergola out the back, I am going to put one on the side - a proper one though, with the wooden seat and I’m going to paint it red, nodding crazily with wild eyes, pigtails and all LOL. He just rolls the eyes, looks at me with that ‘you really are nuts’ look and says that’s fine, if that’s what you want, go for it - yipee that’s fine, I AM going to go for it buddy, I’m gonna make it MYSELF - it will be MY creation and I’M gonna love it! :D

I recently asked the same question at All For Women, but am going to ask it here as well - what kid stuff do you enjoy doing? Would love to hear what it is :)

Welcome home

Barbara on June 21st, 2008

Yes, we got him early. I couldn’t resist LOL. I decided that getting him on the 29th June was just too far away and I really wanted to spend a whole weekend with him before I went to work on the Monday. We picked him up at 2.30pm on Friday after a long 2 hour drive to Monica’s house. There were so many chihuahua’s there, I could have snatched them all LOL. I spotted him out straight away and after a bit of chatting, paper swapping (you know what I mean), he was rugged up in his blanket and on my knees ready for the long 2hr drive back home. He was so well behaved in the car. After the first hour he started to settle and finally fell asleep.

Shhhhh …… isn’t he gorgeous when he is sleeping :)

He has settled into our house really well and has met Spencer and Murphy a few times. The first time he saw them, he was showing them who the new boss was (through the glass of course) but soon realised when we opened the door that he is the pup of the family. With all three tails wagging and lots of slurpy kisses, they all made friends.

His first night was great - I was expecting him to be up all night sooking and crying for his mum, sisters and brothers but we heard NOTHING. I actually woke up once or twice and had to check him to make sure he was alright LMAO. I ended up waking him at 7.30am and he was so excited to see us!

We just need to get the toilet training under control - that’s the biggest battle so far. We have never had an indoor dog before and seem to be running after him everywhere in case he does something. There have been lots of accidents but there have also been lots of good ones too so wish us luck :D

Thursday Thanks

Barbara on June 19th, 2008

I am always thankful for what I have, what I have been given and for all the good things I have in my life. But I decided today that I would like to make every Thursday a special day where I can say thanks to/for three things. So, this week I would like to thank …….

…… my husband for being the sweetest and most caring person I have ever met. He understands everything about me, my moods, expressions, body language, tears, laughter, happiness and sadness. I have had a rough couple of months and as much as I have tried to shine through them, he knows that deep down I am hurting, lonely and sad. He is there for me and with me everyday and is my rock. Thank you for being here, with me, making me smile, laugh and feel loved - I love you :)

…… my boys for the laughter, joy and excitement they bring to my life every day. Oh, don’t get me wrong, they bring many frustrations and grief as well LOL but it is all part of them growing up I suppose :) You are both ratbags and I do love you, but I’d like to say a special thank you to you both for just being you :)

…… my mum for popping in every Wednesday for a coffee and a chat. We have had a lot of good laughs and I really enjoy all the crap we talk about - it is so much fun.

Thanks

I want a skipping rope

Barbara on June 18th, 2008

Sometimes I think I have too much energy. I know this is going to sound crazy but have you ever wanted to run and do flips like the gymnists do (especially when there is a very long corridor in front of you) I always wish I could do it LOL. So, I have been trying to think of something I can do at home now that I no longer have my treadmill and I have decided I want a skipping rope - no, not to skip down the street, although that would be fun :D just for exercise, maybe to do in the garage in the afternoons. It’s funny you know, I used to have a leather one that cost me a small fortune at one of the big sports stores in the city and I never used it. But I want one again now so I think I might have to head off to Kmart or BigW and get one of the cheap $10 ones and see how I go :)

How hard can it be?

Barbara on June 17th, 2008

Seriously, how hard can it be to connect a house up to gas, monitor it and send a bill? You would think it was easy, but unfortunately for our gas company, it is asking way way too much.  We moved into our house almost 5 months ago and for the last 2 months I have been chasing them for MY bill.  You can already see something is wrong here - right? LOL. They found my electricity account on their system but sent the bill to an address I had with them 5 years ago - I didn’t even give them that address - they just took it off an old account - idiots!!.  Anyway, that took them 6 weeks to re-address it to our address here. I have been rolling my eyes about that ever since and am getting incredibly dizzy!

Well, after sorting the electricity part of it out, I asked them about my gas account?  What gas account? The one I organised with the electricity.  No, no, we have no account for you for gas - you must have asked some other company. OMG, you can imagine how frustrated I was with this person!  It is a brand new house, just built - no-one has been here before, there wasn’t even a gas meter here until the day we moved in - I asked for gas & electricity from the same company to be turned on.  It has been turned on - can I please have a bill?  Nope - no account.  I ended up ringing them back about 5 times over the last 2 months and was making progress with it. So much so that I received an email from them on 10 June saying it had all been sorted out, my account was being updated as they type blah blah and I should get an account shortly - thank you for my patience in this matter.

Great!!! Or so I thought …………………

Last night, I was at home organising the kids dinner (as I was off to Pilates at 5.45pm for the 6pm class).  They were having oven fish & chips with some pasta & cheese sauce - yeah I know, not very healthy but it was their weekly “your choice” dinner.  The fish & chips were almost cooked and  I poured everything into the  pot, whacked it on the stove and would you believe it - no friggin gas! WTF! I quickly put it all in a microwave jug and zapped it for them in there and spent the next 40 minutes on the phone (missing Pilates altogether - not happy Jan).  By the end of the phone call I had calmed down (just a tad mind you) - they will organise for an urgent connection in the morning and apologised no where near enough to my liking though.  I dragged my feet to the kitchen put the pot of vegetables, that were sitting on the stove, in the fridge, took out the carton of eggs and had microwaved scrambled eggs (which was yummy but not what I had planned on eating).  We froze last night, we froze this morning and we smell bad.

The gas has been put back on (about half an hour ago now) - I am now waiting for the hot water service to heat up so I can have a shower.

The only good thing that has come out of this is that we will not be billed for the gas we have used so far.  They have completely cancelled the other account (you know, the one they didn’t have) and have opened a new one to start billing from 19 June :)

Making some Progress

Barbara on June 16th, 2008

Seems I am making some progress in the gym. With my new eating plan (I hate the word diet LOL) and the training I am doing at the moment, things have started to happen again. I have so far lost 3kgs and quite a few cms - although I haven’t actually measured but they are noticable to the eye. I have been really hitting the weights hard and have found a few new exercises that are awesome and you can really feel the pull when training. Anyway, just blogging it all up so I can come back and see. Took this pic of my back today - am pretty happy with how it is looking so I thought I’d stick it up and show the world LOL. At least now you can now see the beginning of some muscle definition :D Just got to get the rest of the body looking the same now LOL

Please don’t smash the glass

Barbara on June 15th, 2008

I took my two big beautiful boys for their daily walk today and was really disappointed by the amount of smashed glass everywhere.  I had to stop at least 6 times today to make sure they didn’t walk anywhere near it and get any stuck in their paws.  It’s such a shame that the kids seem to find it so amusing to do it and I really don’t understand how it can be fun :( The boys loved their walk nonetheless and enjoyed seeing the ducks again by the local lake.  Here’s a pic I took of them today when we got back - Spencer is the one on the left, and Murphy is the one with the big smile.  Aren’t they beautiful :)

Say hello to Griffin

Barbara on June 14th, 2008

Isn’t he just adorable? Griffin is the latest addition to our family :) I won’t get him for another two weeks but the breeder (Monica from Montollie Chihuahua’s) has sent me some pics today so I can share them with everyone. He is 11 weeks old at the moment and really loves a cuddle. Monica was telling me that the Chihuahua’s drop their ears down when they are teething - how cute is that? LOL He is so sweet, I can’t wait to cuddle him again. Oh, and he is one of the pups from my earlier blog post I’m so excited (he is the pup on the very left). I am going to make him his blanket today for his bed and have already been down to the sewing shop to get my supplies I’ve told Spencer and Murphy all about him and I know they are going to love him as much as we already do. Griffin is already playing with Monica’s big dogs so he should fit in very well here. I can’t wait - 15 more sleeps :D
