Please look after your pets

Barbara on November 21st, 2007

Just over the last 2 days I have seen and heard so many sad things and I really don’t understand why some people get animals. Yesterday I had to ring the council and tell them of a poor cat that had been hit that was still lying in the middle of the road. Personally I would have gotten out the car to pick it up and move it, but my experience in dealing with that is not very good. What was good was the council turned up within about 15 minutes of my call. This morning while I was at gym I saw a dog trying to keep its balance and sliding around in the back of a Ute. Now, I have no problem with having your dog in the back but tie it up. Have a bit of compassion – would you like to be thrown around the back and risk the possibility of falling out/off when the Ute goes around a corner. Then there was a dog that almost got hit by a car because the owner had been walking it off the lead and it ran towards the road to get to another dog on the other side. To top it off a friend was telling me that she had come home to find her dogs sitting at the front door. Her son’s friend didn’t close the gate properly. She is one very lucky lady. Please, be more responsible and look after your pets. Cats (and even dogs for that matter) do not have any road sense, please keep them inside or if they need to be outside, put up a cat run. Please make sure your dogs are secure in your yards, lock gates and walk your dog on a lead, not only is it safer for them but you will have more control. It really isn’t too much to ask is it?

Day 10 - Hot & Sweaty

Barbara on November 20th, 2007

Geez, it was hot today at Gym - worked up a real sweat LOL. Was looking forward to getting in there and doing my program (even though I was a bit sore from yesterday’s cycle class). Got through it fairly quickly though and again managed to increase a few weights. I think I would have looked a bit funny though as I had the shakes a bit LOL. Went back later to do my 5km run. Wasn’t sure if I’d get through it but surprised myself and actually ran 6km. It’s okay, I can pretend I can hear you all clapping LOL - thank you, thank you. I had a small problem with the guy on the treadmill next to me though - he had no deodorant. All I can say is it’s lucky I breathe through my mouth otherwise it wouldn’t have been pretty seeing what I ate for dinner. I know it was a hot & sweaty day, but it doesn’t take much to spray/roll some on. So, not only do I need my towel and blinkers, I’ll need nose plugs next LMAO. Lets hope Day 11 can bring a more refreshing day :)

Watching the time

Barbara on November 19th, 2007

Do you watch the time at Gym? I don’t – well not anymore. I was always watching the time on the treadmill or bike to see how long I had left and by doing that it just seemed to take forever and ever to finish or get to the 10/15/20/30 minute mark. Or you get the nosey people looking over your shoulder (yes there are lots out there) to see how fast you are running/walking or how long you have been there for etc (sometimes I think they are worse time watchers than me LOL). I suppose I don’t really mind anyone looking at those things or even if there are comparing the time/distance with their own, but it is very off-putting. It the same as when you get the younger ones mucking around next to you. It is so easy to lose your train of thought at the gym with so much going on around you. So now, I throw my towel over the whole lot – time, calories, distance, heart rate, everything. I stare straight out the window and really try to concentrate and get through it. All I need now are some blinkers LOL.

Day 9 - I love cycle class

Barbara on November 18th, 2007

I had the best time today at gym. Cycle class was on at 10.00am and it was another instructor again. I have never seen him at the gym before (apparently he was on holiday) but he does the usual Sunday class. Well sign me up for every Sunday please - he made it so much fun that I was actually smiling and laughing while peddling my poor legs off. One day I know I will fall off the bike, I can just see it. How anyone can be as uncoordinated on a stationary bike as me, I have no idea LOL. I think I peddle too fast that my legs get confused - Is there such a thing as that happening LMAO. I didn’t get too puffed though with the 50 min class but went that lovely shade of red again. We did jumps and climbed mount everest I think but it was well worth it. Have you all gone and done a class yet? If not, get off your bums and go try it out - It’s so much fun - I love cycle class :)

Day 8 - Who’s got a red face?

Barbara on November 16th, 2007

I ran out of protein this morning – I think it made my workout a bit hard – but then again, it probably had something to do with increasing the weights again. Yes, again – not sure why I did it because I almost ended up bursting my head. When I sat back up after doing DB bench press I was RED. Not pink, or a little red, BRIGHT red LOL. I am starting to find that the only time you seem to catch people watching you is when you trip or have a bright red face or grunt or pull a face while clenching your teeth together. It’s quite funny really, surely what is on the TV is more exciting. Anyway, I walked out of gym with a new tub of protein powder so am nicely stocked for the next week or two :). I couldn’t go back for a run tonight though as I had to go out, but will make up for it over the weekend :)

Day 7 - One whole week!

Barbara on November 16th, 2007

Can you believe it’s been a week already? Gee times flies when you have fun doesn’t it LOL. My weights session was good today. I didn’t bang my head on anything or grunt or do anything silly or embarrassing – well, not until I was in the car park and tripped over something. I still don’t know what it was because when I turned around, nothing was there. Don’t you hate it though when you really hope that no-one saw you BUT THEY DID? Well, when I went back to gym to do my run (by myself :() I got asked if I had a nice trip? It took me about 10 minutes to finally work out what they were talking about LOL. And anyway - what were they doing watching me walk away from the gym in the first place?

Day 6 - Cycle, cycle, cycle

Barbara on November 16th, 2007

I don’t remember it being THAT hard last week? Maybe it was just the different instructor – even the jumps weren’t as much fun. Had a bit of a giggle at the old 80’s music though which made it a bit more enjoyable. One of the ladies in there said she nearly vomited – How gross is that LOL. Went back later and did my 5km run (yes, it was actually 5.1 to be precise). That felt great – the legs were a bit tired but I got through it :) Got a comment on the way out - “Gee your face is red” - thanks guys, like I didn’t know that already LOL

Stop Moaning and Eating Cakes

Barbara on November 14th, 2007

Oh Ladies, if it isn’t bad enough overhearing you complain about how hard your workout is and how tired you are, walking past and seeing you eat cake is worse! Why go to the gym at all (I can hear you all now “to burn off the cake I just ate” LOL). Seriously though, there are a few regulars I see at the gym who mostly chat and don’t really seem to do a great deal because it is “too hard” or they are “so tired today”. At first, you think, ah well – it’s probably a really good place for them to all catch up and they are doing “something” I suppose etc etc but then you see them later in the day down at the local bakery – still chatting and eating CAKE!! It’s a bit like watching a dog chase its own tail really LOL. So stop moaning and eating the cakes ladies and I guarantee you will feel a lot better for it :)

Day 5 - Working up a sweat

Barbara on November 14th, 2007

Another good day at the gym – must have been something in the air as it was pretty busy today. I managed to get through all my sets and increased a few of the weights. I think I popped a few veins in the process but it’s all good LOL. My 5km run later in the day was a bit of a struggle – not sure if that had anything to do with me wearing a hat? I suppose other people might have experienced this, but I felt hotter than usual and boy did I sweat. I never realised just how much though until I got home - how embarrassing is that! LOL. I’ve run out of protein powder as well (which doesn’t help much) – Vital Greens is supposed to be a fantastic product (so I’ve heard). I sent off for a sample and it arrived yesterday – will read up on it and try it tomorrow morning. Cycle class tomorrow – woo hoo, should be fun

Day 4 - Nice and Refreshed

Barbara on November 13th, 2007

Well, it’s a new week, I’m all fresh from a restful weekend and am 2kg lighter :) I weighed myself this morning - more out of curiosity than anything and was pleasantly surprised at what I saw. It made my whole workout even more enjoyable. It’s a great feeling to know that all the hard work is paying off. My program today was good - I wasn’t as tired as I used to be and was able to put a bit more grunt into each set. Not sure what the rest of the gym thought about the noises I was making though LOL. I went back later and did a 5km run for my cardio session (well I am really 40 metres short of 5km so tomorrow night I will up the anti and see if I can pass the 5km mark). Shouldn’t be a problem :)

Now, I have been asked to post a picture - Am not to sure about that just yet but will see if I can get a decent shot :)
