I could just skip
Wooohooo I feel GREAT! I had the best workout this morning. I haven’t been to the gym in two weeks so probably won’t be able to move tomorrow. I know, that is really BAD but we have had so much on that I’ve either been too knackered to go or just too busy. Not really the best excuse especially if I am going to take this bodybuilding seriously. I am meeting up with my trainer this afternoon to go over my diet. I really need to kick start something to get my body fat percentage down. Have to tell you all though I LOVE preacher curls. Oh, they are the best. It’s been years since I have done them and the rush of doing them came flooding back on the first curl. There is nothing more satisfying than finishing a workout, being so exhausted that you could drop and getting that rush all at the same time. It’s hard to explain but if it wasn’t so embarrassing I’d skip out of the gym and keep skipping all day - it just makes me feel so good LOL

Assessment
Well the time came for my assessment. I was pretty confident walking into the office to meet my trainer (with my son in tow). After answering 50 questions to my son about all the machines he walked past and the huge body builder with the “massive muscles mum” I finally turned my attention to taking the shoes off and hopping on the scales. Now, nothing changed in the weight which is fine BUT my body fat had increased - WHAT THE??? My measurements were great for 4 weeks of training - 5cm off the waist, 3cm off the hips and 1cm off the legs, calves, back and arms. So I have lost body fat but the scales said it was up by 2% - stupid electronic devices - no wonder we’d all love to attack them with a sledgehammer LOL. Anyway, after scratching his head and watching mine shake from side to side, my trainer sat and wrote out a harder program. It is now going to be a 2 day split program although I can’t remember precisely what I have to do but it is weights on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday. Spin Class on Wednesday and Cardio on Saturday. I really need to sort out my diet though - my goal now is to beat my last measurement loss and get that percentage down.
What? No weight training?
Nope, not this week. I was supposed to have my assessment last Saturday but my trainer had to go to Perth and wasn’t around. It has been re-booked for Thursday afternoon. Of course, I’d like to see some sort of change in my stats so I thought I’d have a cardio week to try and burn some extra calories. So while I was at gym this morning I added them all up and worked out that I am burning approximately 650 calories at each gym session. Am not sure if that’s a great effort but I know I definitely feel like I’ve worked out when I have finished - no handbags or dangly earrings here ladies - just a sweaty and exhausted lady with a bright red face LOL. I don’t want to get into the body fat measurements just yet but I know (mostly by my clothes) that I have dropped a bit. The calipers can stay in their case for now though - measurements will be just fine. Will let you all know how I go tomorrow - wish me luck ![]()
Thank you
Yay!! I received a Totally Fabulous award!! Thank you so much to Patric at Mad Goat Lady for passing the award on to me. I am very new at blogging and appreciate it very much ![]()
Ladies - it’s a gym LOL
What is going on LMAO - It’s a gym ladies - a place where you work out, get sweaty and probably look your worst. You don’t need to turn up with make-up on, your hair done or wear big dangly earrings :O And why did you bring your bag and mobile phone? I have never seen anything so funny. You look over to the treadmills and there they are, casually walking and chatting on the phone with their hair all done and their bag hanging over the side bashing into their legs. I just don’t get it LOL. I mean, I understand that people go to the gym to look good and feel good as well, but some of the ladies that turn up really make me laugh. And to top it all off, when they do start to get sweaty or hot, they tie their jumpers/jackets around their waist LMAO - Who would have thought gym could give you such a good laugh as well.
Oh how I love doing cardio
Cardio is probably one of my favourite things. Although as much as I love it, I hate how boring it can get LOL. Luckily there are enough machines at the gym that I can break up the monotony of it all and switch machines - I do cardio after each weights workout but 3 days a week I do just cardio - at the moment it is a 2km row and then 15 mins on the stepper, cross-trainer, treadmill & bike. I am absolutely knackered afterward and wish someone could drive me home LOL. Funny thing is, about 2 hours after I have come home and eaten everything in sight because I am soooo hungry, I want to go back. I always wonder if anyone else feels like that - that they haven’t trained? I ran out of energy though this morning - might need to change what I eat before I go.
Legs Legs Legs
You guessed it - today was leg day and yep they are pretty tired after this mornings workout. Headed down to gym around 8am and got stuck into the rower to warm up. Then went about training my legs. Nothing too exciting really - did some extensions, curls, hack squats, calf raises and lunges. Sometimes wish they had a downstairs gym because it takes me a few minutes to walk down the stairs LOL. Finished it off with a 2km run. Felt pretty good but wish I had the energy to do a bit more. Still trying to get rid of my body fat - is going to take awhile but I know I’ll get there again.
The First of Many
Well this is the first of many rambling-ons about my efforts at the gym. I wanted to get back into bodybuilding (after a 12 year break) so re-joined the gym about a month ago. Wow, what a hard slog LOL. Now I remember just how bloody hard it was - but I am so enjoying it at the moment. Anyway, I thought I’d start up a blog to share my ramblings with those who want to listen/read and for something to look back on and reflect. Fingers crossed it all goes well. Have got my 1st assessment this Saturday so I am hoping the last months efforts have been worth it.
